Despite the growing wealth in India, what used to be a Third World country, people in remote areas live in dire conditions – they lack proper healthcare, education and basic needs. They seem to live in a different world of their own, in the Fourth World. People in the Fourth World are often forgotten and neglected. Experts, governmental or non-governmental, often fail to understand the complexities of poverty in the Fourth World. Ekta Niketan is committed to control the spread of tuberculosis by providing quality healthcare to TB patients in remote rural communities in India and addressing the root causes of the disease - poverty, undernutrition and inequality in resource distribution.
THE SPREAD OF TB IN INDIA
While India announces that the country would eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, the reality has been different. TB patients accessing Ekta Niketan are on the rise. In 2025 alone, the number has reached over 800. Policy makers come up with various TB control measures, but there has been little change in reducing the spread of the disease. → READ MORE

Ekta Niketan - a centre to treat tuberculosis in a remote village in India.
Ekta niketan TB centre, is right in the middle of a remote tribal village in India. Unlike other TB centres, it is a mud-built house like other houses in the village; the centre is run by a team of villagers whose language, culture, education and economic status parallel to TB patients they treat. Ekta Niketan is 'where there is no doctor' in practice.
OUR MISSION
Ekta Niketan aims to eliminate TB from its root causes. While providing quality care to people with TB, we address inequality and poverty . We reach out TB patients in remote communities in India where health care is in a sorry state.
OUR WORK
After years of trials and practice, Ekta Niketan is now a showcase of a community TB centre. In a remote tribal village, our TB centre is run successfully by a team of village health workers.
